Circus Bingo

Spread the love of circus throughout August with this Circus Bingo Challenge.

Created by our mentors just for you, use you skills to complete everyday tasks, get your clown on and get some conditioning in too!

We would LOVE to see how you get on. Take photographs, take videos, post them to Facebook or Instagram and tag us @circuscentral and use the hastags #geordiecircus #circuscentralbingo

Can you challenge a friend to complete a challenge? Who can you share your skills with!? Get your grown ups involved! Get your young people involved! WHO CAN GET A PET INVOLVED!?!? Lets see how many people we can get involved... who will be the furthest person away from Newcastle England to take part in Circus Central Circus Bingo!?


30 Days of Circus

Circus Central invites you and your family to join our #30daysofcircus challenge. We will be posting daily tasks to keep you entertained and challenged during social isolation starting Friday 20th March. There will be prizes to keep you motivated!

Join in at any time... you can always backdate some challenges :)

To enter the draw to win a prize you must:

  • Post a pic or vid of your daily task for the full 30 days
  • Tag a friend in the original post on Facebook or instagram to invite them to play along
  • Tag us in your daily post with @circuscentralnewcastle (fb) @circuscentral (insta)
  • Use the hashtags #circuscentral #circusforeveryone #geordiecircus

PRIZES: (in order of GLORY):

  • A 1-1 with a mentor of your choice! (Aerial, handstands, manipulation...you decide!)
  • A fabulous circus central hoodie
  • A 1/2 term pass to Newcastle Youth Circus (ages 10+)
  • A 1/2 term pass to Aerial conditioning (ages 18+)

This is a free challenge, please share and get everyone playing and having fun. But we are also trying to raise some funds to help our fabulous mentors in this difficult covid-climate. Day 1 is Funny Friday. Dress up in your craziest clown outfit and do a self portrait, or a portrait of a friend... without looking at the pen or paper! Points for extra creative ways of not looking.

Day 2 is Circus Games Saturday. A one up pirouette. Throw an item straight up, pirouette and catch the item again... simple, right?! Now do it with the most obscure item you can find in your house!

Day 3 is Creative Movement Sunday. Got no room to practice your stilts at home? No problem, let’s shrink! Be like our Aerial Mentor @kirsty_circus and put your feet through the arms of a big jumper... or find your own way of shrinking down as small as you can. Now try and kick a ball or play football! (Please take care on stairs!)

Day 4 is Manipulation Monday! This is a cigar box juggling challenge thanks to our wonderful EVS students Mia and Tscho (@tshia.damen). The movement comes from your legs, not your arms: Sound on for full challenge and tips on how-to.

Day 5 is Handstand Tuesday! Our worlds have been turned upside down so let’s get on our hands for some relief! This challenge is brought to you by our Education Director Claire Harvey and special guest. Sound on! What places in your house can you use to pull the most beautiful handstand? Use a wall or family member to spot you if needed.

Day 6 is Balance Wednesday! Dress for the apocalypse you want. Make a costume, improvise a weapon, fight mutants on your chosen steed (bonus points for unicycling!) Sound on. Courtesy of our balance and juggling mentors @willbejuggling and Nat Lunatrick.

Day 7 is Fitness Thursday! Let’s play Bucking Bronco. First: find a push-up variation your partner can comfortably do (on your knees, on your feet, one arm...) then keep adding unusual items one by one to your partner's back until they can no longer do a push up! If you’re at home alone, what can you balance on your own back and still complete a push up?!

Day 8 we’re back to Funny Friday! Today’s challenge is courtesy of clown/singer/actor @katieofthetranter Dress up in as many yellow items as you can find, run to an open door (or window) and say ‘Peggy Babcock’ 5 times as fast as you can!

Day 9 is Saturday circus games! Today’s challenge is courtesy of Education Director Claire Harvey, and guest star & games expert Daisy. Play Tic Tac Toe - think noughts and crosses. Get creative with the counters you use and how you place them. Doing this on your own? Take it as target practice!

Day 12 is Handstands! Today’s challenge is brought to you by BTEC mentor and Handstand tutor Ross Taylor- Get dressed up the wrong way round and then flip upside down! Shoes on hands, arms in trousers, legs in jumper. Could be a handstand, headstand, forearm stand, using a sofa to support you. Get creative and stay safe!

Day 28 is from guest artist Edson: juggling, trapeze, balance - he does it all! Edson challenges you at one of his specialities; balancing items on your head. How tall a book tower can you build?

Day 29 is from guest clown and director Robyn Hambrook. Today is a clown challenge. Sound on for full instructions. Dress up as your clown, in your hand have a bag/suitcase, in your other hand an umbrella and a coat over one arm. It’s just started to rain! Your clown needs to figure out how to get their coat on and umbrella up, without putting anything down on the muddy ground, and whilst only ever holding one thing in each hand. Remember to share your clown's reactions with the camera!

Day 30, it’s the last day of our challenge! It’s world circus day! Here’s your last challenge thanks to our lovely aerialist Kirsty. Can you balance a cup with something inside it on your head and follow Kirsty’s movement sequence all the way, without emptying your cup? Plastic cup recommended... who can succeed with water in their cup?!
